After the breakthrough of the Corona Virus, Almost all the countries around the globe had to impose severe restrictions and put a lock-down on our daily routines. Most of our daily activities were disturbed after the lockdown, Where we couldn’t attend gyms or even make our way to the park for a routine jog. Sitting at home didn’t do our bodies any good and most of us have put up a few pounds here and there.
In the eHeart health study program, The researchers took around 7,500 weight measurements from 269 different participants. The average result in the JAMA Network’s Open Letter revealed 45 out of fifty participants gained 0.8 pounds every 10 days and around 1.8 pounds a month during their stay in the Covid Shelter.
So why have we gained weight?
Health and nutrition contributor Lysa Drayer say that the main reason for people to gain weight during the pandemic was People over-eating at homes with little to no activity whatsoever. Also, Working from home has also played a massive role in this situation as the Kitchens were right around the corner.
A WebMD poll revealed that 68% of people reported they are snacking more, 74% were cooking at home more often than they used to and 54% of people are exercising less. Studies show that distracted eating and un-attentive eating, Mostly during working from home caused people to gain weight as there is little to no movement at all.
If you’re feeling guilty about over-eating and gaining weight during the Pandemic, Cut yourself a break! As Lysa Drayer states “Eating is one of life’s pleasures, and the pandemic was so stressful, it’s understandable that we ate more of our favorite comfort foods — and more often and in larger quantities.”
What can we do to shed those extra pounds?
Lysa Drayer has pointed out some steps everyone can take to boost the body’s metabolism, Improve our habits, and eventually, Shed down some weight.
We can start off by settling our Eating habits. As crazy as this sounds, But this is basically what’s going to help us the most to shed some weight. You should Eat! Consume small meals frequently giving a gap of around 4 to 5 hours between each meal and snack. Don’t ever skip a meal. Keeping your stomach empty will do nothing but damage to your immune system also your digestive system. Include a small portion of protein on your plates around 3 ounces is suggested. In order to get back the physique you had before the lockdown, Start lifting some mild weights for your metabolism to work effectively and tone up your body as you throw down some pounds. As the lockdown has eased, include a brief 30 – 45 minutes of walk in your daily routine. This will help you burn some extra calories down the road. Cut down on your sugar intake, If your sweet-tooth tingles, Just go for a hot bath or a walk around the block.
The researchers and doctors state that moving away from your Kitchen-table as your work-from-home place of choice would be the first move in helping you reduce your weight. Obesity is a disease, and if not looked into and not corrected in the earliest of times, Could result in severe health problems in the future.
