Chris Hemsworth returns from the brink of death in the official trailer for Extraction 2, reprising his role as Tyler Rake, a formidable black ops mercenary. The trailer showcases Rake’s astonishing resurgence after being clinically decease for nine months, leaving him with a burning desire to uncover the truth behind his remarkable recovery.
Following the harrowing events of the original film, Rake embarks on a perilous mission in Extraction 2, determined to rescue the beleaguered family of a merciless Georgian gangster from an impregnable prison. The trailer for the sequel exhibits Hemsworth’s fearless performance, brimming with relentless action, unyielding brutality, and visceral intensity.
The initial installment of Extraction depicted the Australian mercenary’s grief over the loss of his son while undertaking a daring mission to save the kidnapped child of an incarcerated Indian drug lord. Rake’s apparent demise in the first film, which premiered on Netflix in 2020, was cast into doubt by a last-minute revelation, leaving audiences questioning his fate.
Extraction 2 reunites Hemsworth with director Sam Hargrave, and the film is produce by Joe and Anthony Russo’s AGBO, with a screenplay penned by Joe Russo himself, who also wrote the script for the original movie. The Russo brothers share producer credits with Hemsworth, Patrick Newall, Hargrave, Mike Larocca, Angela Russo-Otstot, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin. Additionally, Benjamin Grayson, Steven Scavelli, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, and Jake Aust serve as executive producers.
In the sequel, Golshifteh Farahani reprises her role from the first Extraction, joined by Tornike Gogrichiani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt, Tinatin Dalakishvili, and Olga Kurylenko, who complete the cast.
