In a thought-provoking move labeled a “social experiment,” Philadelphia rapper Meek Mill took to Twitter on Wednesday to ask his fans whether they believe he has “fallen off.” Seeking genuine opinions, Mill opened up the discussion on his current standing as an artist.
Initiating his tweet with the query, “Who think I fell off or don’t really think I got it with rapping anymore?,” Mill emphasized his sincerity and reassured followers that he wouldn’t take it personally. Describing the exercise as a social experiment, he urged supporters to provide their candid thoughts.
In response to Meek’s inquiry, fans had mixed opinions. One user argued that he had become lazy, suggesting, “@MeekMill is lazy now, probably have other personal things his focus on. The thing is, are you going to continue with rap on the old wave or are you going to adopt to this new gen z music? You already have the name, experience, fans & billionaire friends. Leave a legacy.” In contrast, another fan believed that Meek had simply evolved, stating, “It’s all about growth, my guy. To understand who don’t rock with you the same is to also understand that you’re not the same. In that sense, you’ll never fall off. The ones who choose not to grow with you fall off.”
While opinions varied, some supporters encouraged Mill to release more music to dispel any doubts. One fan straightforwardly advised, “Just stop the talk & drop. That’s how we ALL feel. We KNOW what you’re capable of. SHOW IT.” Echoing similar sentiments, another fan expressed, “You just gotta keep dropping albums in my opinion, with good rollouts, singles, videos, and features.” Mill has yet to respond directly to these opinions, leaving the conversation open-ended.
Meek Mill, who recently turned 36, released his most recent studio album, “Expensive Pain,” in 2021. Regarded as a commercial success, it debuted at number three on the US Billboard 200 chart. Notable tracks from the album include “Flamerz Flow,” “Sharing Locations,” and “Blue Notes 2.”
