History
The HAT-SAN Shipyard is a subsidiary of the “PEKAR GROUP” of companies. The PEKAR GROUP, which had previously established itself in the mining, construction, international commerce, and energy sectors, took the choice to engage in shipbuilding in turkey; and the marine industry in 2006. Consequently, they joined “Shipyard Entrepreneurs INC.” (Tersane Girişimcileri A..) in order to begin shipyard investments in the designated shipyard zone in Altinova / Yalova, which the Turkish government established.
HAT-SAN Shipyard, which operates on a 50.000 m2 site, concluded its key investments in 2007 with the installation of a 2×125 tonnes gantry crane on a 52×180 m slipway and the construction of a 6000 m2 closed manufacturing area equipped with five gantry cranes. A plate bending machine and a profile bending machine, as well as two CNC cutting machines, are also housed in the closed production section of the facility. The HAT-SAN Shipyard began new construction operations in 2008 as a result of these investments.
In addition to the above, HAT-SAN SHIPYARD increased its expenditures in 2013 by constructing its very own floating dock of 180*30 meters and expanding the piers to 215 and 150 meters. Since June 2014, the Yard has been used for a variety of repair and maintenance tasks. The construction of a second new building slipway measuring 170×24 meters was completed, and the closed block production areas were expanded and equipped with new cranes. According to the schedule, the construction of the administrative building, the storage for new construction equipment, and the machinery workshop was finished by the end of 2014. Two 1600 kVA transformers, two pairs of CNC cutting machines, a 200 tonnes bogs press, a 400-tonne bending press, six gantry cranes in a controlled production area, and other equipment are available to support the expansion of new construction and maintenance services at the Yard (50 tons, two pieces of 30 tonnes and three pieces of 10 tons).
Social facilities for the Yard’s workers and subcontractors have been established, with enough space to host more than 500 people at a time. Investments in a painting hall, as well as extra block manufacturing space, are also being considered. Since 2014, HAT-SAN Shipyard has additionally provided services to customers in the conversion industry. The Yard is currently constructing the world’s largest capacity power ship (with a capacity of 550MW electric power generation). In addition, two additional convenient-sized boats are being modified for the same purpose as the first two.
Currently, work is being done at the HAT-SAN Shipyard on the lengthening and full refitting of a Live Fish Carrier for Norwegian Owners. The HAT-SAN Shipyard has successfully repaired about 63 boats in the last 20 months, dating back to the commencement of operation of its own-built floating dock in July 2014 and continuing until February 2016. In the middle of March 2016, we were pleased to report that our floating dock “HAT-SAN DOCK 1” had been sold and delivered to our customer. We will be able to continue our ship repair operations in the near future with a floating dock of “Panamax size” as our capacity grows. Presently, four separate conversion projects are being handled at the Yard, with additional projects anticipated to be completed in the near future.
