Bandai Namco has officially confirmed the inclusion of Hwoarang, a beloved character from Tekken 3. In the upcoming release of Tekken 8. The roster for Tekken 8 has been gradually reveal over the past few months. Featuring renowned fighters such as Jin, Jun, Nina, Lili, King, Paul Phoenix, Marshall Law, Leroy Smith, and others. However, the exciting news doesn’t end there, as Hwoarang has now been added to the lineup, delighting fans once again.
In line with previous character reveals, Hwoarang’s confirmation for Tekken 8 came with a detailed gameplay trailer showcasing his expanded moveset, which will be familiar to those who have played as him in previous Tekken games. Prior to that, the trailer introduces him riding in on a motorcycle and performing an Akira slide, instantly establishing an impressive and captivating entrance.
In Tekken 8, Hwoarang has undergone a stylistic transformation along with the rest of the cast. His new appearance reflects a return to his simpler fighting attire from Tekken 3. Departing from the distinctive sleeveless green leather jacket he wore in Tekken 5-7. Additionally, his hair has grown longer and is now tie back, reminiscent of his appearance in Tekken 3 and 4.
If Hwoarang’s design feels familiar, there’s a valid reason behind it. As pointed out by YouTuber KeyRogue, Hwoarang’s outfit draws inspiration from his mentor Baek. A character who has appeared in most Tekken games but was absent from Tekken 7. Furthermore, there are noticeable influences from SNK’s Buriki One in his attire.
Now, let’s delve into the core aspect—the moveset. Unsurprisingly, Hwoarang’s moveset in Tekken 8 heavily emphasizes his kicking techniques, much like in previous installments of the Tekken series. The gameplay trailer showcases various basic kick combos, as well as a swift counter move that allows him to swiftly repel his opponent. Moreover, glimpses of his powerful Heat moves reveal an abundance of kicking maneuvers, further solidifying his fighting style.
In fact, throughout the gameplay trailer, Hwoarang’s opponents are on the receiving end of his relentless kicking assaults, making it challenging to find moments where he deviates from this signature approach. But that’s precisely what fans have come to expect and appreciate from Hwoarang’s dynamic fighting style—unyielding and awe-inspiring kicks that leave a lasting impact.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates as Tekken 8 approaches its highly anticipated release.
