Orlando Magic big man Mo Bamba and Minnesota Timberwolves guard Austin Rivers were among five players who were be dismiss during the final quarter of the game on Friday in the Target Center following an on-court dispute.
Timberwolves members Taurean Prince, Jaden McDaniels, as well as Orlando’s Jalen Suggs were remove for their part in the fight.
It’s not known what caused the battle.
It appears that things were getting heat while Austin Rivers was sitting near his Magic bench. Bamba who was sitting at the bench, seemed to rise from his chair and take a punch at Rivers before they traded punches, and then other people became involved.
The NBA will likely issue penalties and/or suspensions to those involved in the fight.
Bamba 24, is enjoying a good campaign for the Magic averages 7.2 scores, 4.6 in rebounds, and 1.0 assists over the 39-game season (five start) and shooting 49.8 percent on the ground as well as 39.6 per cent from behind.
Rivers who plays mostly on his bench in Minnesota and averages 5.6 scores, 1.8 rebound and 1.6 assists across 42 games as he shoots 46.4 percent at the foul line in addition to 37.1 percent from outside the line.
The Magic began Friday’s game at 13th position on the Eastern Conference with a 20-32 record. The Timberwolves finished seventh in Western Conference at 28-26.
