Silversun Pickups announce 5-date september tour with dates to all sorts of States

The Silversun Pickups has just announced a very special five-date tour across the United States beginning on September first. How many of us have dreamed of going on a five-date tour of this much talked about denim imprinted classic? We all know that it is a denim classic but it still seems a bit much to be asked for. The Silversun Pickups has done their part to make our dreams come true with a five-date September run that will take them from coast to coast. Here is the official itinerary:

September Second Weekend – Pensacola, AL Starting the tour at the southernmost point in Pensacola, AL the group heads north to New Orleans and ends their trip in the historic city of New York. On September second weekend they will head back to Pensacola, AL for the second night of their 5-Date September Tour. This September tour promises to be just as good as the original. This second weekend promises even more great music by The Silversun Pickups.

October Third Weekend – Greenville, MS The Silversun Pickups finalist pick up their second week of touring in Greenville, MS, and head back down south to New Orleans. Greenville is a beautiful Southern town that is located about two hours from the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf of Mexico is where the greatest music comes from, so it makes sense that the Silversun Pickups would choose to perform there. Greenville is a beautiful place for a band to play and has been ranked as the number one music town in the U.S. by Rolling Stone Magazine. The band has also been voted a “Best Rock Band” by Nylon Guys and continues to garner fans throughout the nation.

November Fourth Weekend – Dallas, TX At the Cotton Tree Bar and Lounge in Dallas, Texas this weekend the Silversun Pickups are planning to perform two sets. There are some legendary musicians who will be joining the band on the second night out. This will be great for new fans of the band, as well as long-time fans. They will get to see some fresh new songs and not miss out on any of the older songs from their first tour.

December Fifth Weekend – Washington D. C. at Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will once again be the spot for the Silversun Pickups to take in their second sold-out show in D.C. This will also be the first show of the year for both bands and the opportunity for fans to help raise money for the Hall of Fame. This is the same venue where Panic! State Theater opened its doors for three sold-out nights. This is a great opportunity for fans to see what the band can do when they are headlining. It will be a night to remember for many.

February Second Weekend – San Francisco, California This is a night that many fans look forward to. The band will be headlining for their first time ever in the legendary Ballet Bar. This will be a night to celebrate as well as a chance for fans to get into the music. The band will be playing some new songs as well as some older favorites. This will be a great night for the band to build their fan base and gain some fans that will stick around long after the show is over.

March Second Weekend – Columbus, Ohio The band will be back in Ohio for their second tour of the year. The club where they played last year, The Rocket Bar, will host the event. Israel-Gaza Conflict: What You Need to Know

As the fighting enters its second week, it is being defined by civilian casualties, undiminished rocket fire and airstrikes, and by historical tensions erupting into unrest.

As Palestinians and Israelis hunkered down for the second week of an intense conflict, a series of deadly flash points have galvanized both sides in a region where the human cost of war is all too familiar.

Before dawn on Monday, Israeli warplanes bombarded Gaza City, compounding the civilian suffering in the coastal enclave. At the same time, the rocket barrage by Hamas — the militant group that has ruled Gaza since 2007 and does not recognize Israel — continued to take its toll on Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, the commercial center of the country.

As the civilian casualties grow, the conflict has polarized Israeli society, and the world, like seldom before, and it has spurred unrest within Israel and the occupied territories that has been more intense than any in years.

Here is what is driving the conflict, and its arc so far:

Israeli airstrikes and artillery barrages on Gaza, an impoverished and densely packed enclave of two million people, have killed at least 197 Palestinians, including 92 women and children, between May 10 and Sunday evening, producing stark images of destruction that have reverberated around the world.

In the other direction, Hamas missiles have rained over Israeli towns and cities, sowing fear and killing at least 10 Israeli residents, including two children — a greater civilian toll within Israel than during the last war, in 2014, which lasted more than seven weeks.

Israeli strategists and representatives describe the Gaza campaign as being aimed at destroying as much of Hamas’s infrastructure as possible, including the group’s network of rocket factories and underground tunnels — a subterranean transit system that the Israel military refers to as “the metro.”

But Israel has come under increasing international criticism for the growing number of children that have been killed in airstrikes on Gaza. Images of children’s bodies have circulated on social media in recent days, along with the video of a bereft Gaza father comforting his wailing infant — the only one of his five children to survive an Israeli airstrike. Among the deaths have been eight children killed in a single airstrike at a refugee camp.

On the Israeli side, one of the children killed was a 5-year-old Israeli boy who died after a rocket fired from Gaza made a direct hit on the building next door to his aunt’s apartment, where he was visiting with his mother and older sister.

Some people have been hurt or killed in a burst of unrest in mixed-population cities in Israel, including in Lod, where two people died. And in the occupied West Bank, at least 10 Palestinians were killed by Israeli security forces over the weekend.

The conflict erupted a week ago, on May 10, when weeks of simmering tensions in Jerusalem among Palestinian protesters, the police and right-wing Israelis escalated, against the backdrop of a longstanding battle for control of a city sacred to Jews, Arabs and Christians.

The root of the latest violence is an intense dispute over East Jerusalem, which is predominantly Palestinian. Protests had gone on for days ahead of a Supreme Court ruling, originally expected on May 10 but then postponed, on the eviction of several Palestinian families from East Jerusalem. Israeli officials described it as a dispute over real estate. Many Arabs called it part of a wider Israeli campaign to force Palestinians out of the city, describing it as ethnic cleansing.

The protests sharply intensified after Israeli police prevented Palestinians from gathering near one of the Old City’s ancient gates, as they have customarily done during the holy month of Ramadan. The police responded on May 10 by raiding the Aqsa Mosque compound, one of Islam’s holiest sites, to keep Palestinian protesters from throwing stones, they said. Hundreds of Palestinians and a score of police officers were wounded in the skirmish.

Militants in Gaza then began firing rockets in Jerusalem’s direction, to which Israel responded with airstrikes on Gaza. Barrages by both sides intensified through the week, as did casualties — though Gazans have suffered a disproportionate number of deaths.

Despite Israel’s surveillance capability and overwhelming military firepower next door, Palestinian militants in Gaza have managed to amass a large arsenal of rockets with an enhanced range in the 16 years since Israel vacated the coastal enclave, which it had occupied after the 1967 war.

Hamas, with help from allies outside Gaza — including Iran, according to Israeli and Hamas officials — has parlayed that arsenal into an increasingly lethal threat. Since the conflict erupted last week, Hamas has launched more than 3,000 rockets toward Israeli cities and towns. The intensity of the barrages has put the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, among others, under greater threat than in previous conflicts.

Beyond tunnels and rockets, Israeli military experts and officials say there is another lesser-discussed and murky threat: clandestine naval commandoes entering or hitting Israel by sea, and waging potential attacks at energy facilities or populated settlements. On Monday, Israel’s military released a video showing Israeli defense forces destroying a vessel that it said was suspected of being on its way to carry out an attack on Israeli waters.

As the worst violence in years rages, each night the sky is lit up by rockets fired from Gaza, and by the guided projectiles of Israel’s Iron Dome defense system shooting up to counter them. The images of the tense call-and-response barrages have been among the most widely shared online, even as the toll wrought by the violence becomes clear only in the light of the next day’s dawn.

The Iron Dome missile defense system became operational in 2011 and got its biggest first test over eight days in November 2014, when Gaza militants fired some 1,500 rockets aimed at Israel. While Israeli officials claimed a success rate of up to 90 percent during that conflict, outside experts were skeptical. The system’s interceptors — just 6 inches wide and 10 feet long — rely on miniature sensors and onboard computer processors to zero in on short-range rockets.

While Israel has suffered casualties and the psychological terror of incoming rockets, the system is clearly winnowing out much of the daily rocket fire.

Intense political struggles for leadership of Israel and the Palestinian Authority arepart of the backdrop for the fighting. After four inconclusive elections in Israel in two years, no one has been able to form a governing coalition. But Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on trial on corruption charges, has been able to remain in office, and hopes that Israelis will rally around him in the crisis.

In Palestinian elections that were recently postponed, Hamas hoped to take control of the Palestinian Authority, and has positioned itself as the defender of Jerusalem. It sought to reinforce that claim by firing rockets after the Israeli police raided the Aqsa Mosque compound in Jerusalem’s Old City.

In 2014, Israel invaded Gaza after 10 days of aerial bombardment failed to stop Palestinian militants from showering Israeli cities with rockets. The bloody conflict, which lasted for 50 days in July and August, ended in a truce. By then, 2,251 Palestinians, of whom 1,462 were civilians, had died. Israel had lost 67 soldiers and six civilians, according to the United Nations Human Rights Council.

Israeli leaders agreed to to halt hostilities under intense diplomatic pressure and with increasing casualties on both sides. At the time, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry seemed to calculate that a succession of short truces could be cobbled together to begin unwinding the conflict.

Accepting a truce offered Israel an opportunity to thwart the threat of tunnels being used to attack or kidnap its citizens, without risking more of the civilian casualties in the Gaza Strip that were turning world opinion against it.

Hamas, too, faced pressure to accept the truce, not only from international negotiators but from many Palestinians in the Gaza Strip who were suffering under continuous Israeli bombardment and grappling with the devastation and destruction around them

Sanjeev Gupta, Founder of Liberty Steel asks government for funds

In a letter recently sent to the Department of Business, Sanjeev Gupta has stated that the company requires funds to complement their day-to-day labor, operating expenses and to cover up recent losses the company had faced.

The fall of Greensill capital has gotten the GFG Alliance worried as it was one of their key financial supporters for the company.

Liberty Steel has a labor force of around 5,000 employs in the United Kingdom.

Sanjeev Gupta also stated in the letter that the fall of Greensill has had a severe impact on the GFG Alliance and British steel operations. Gupta has requested a sum of £170m from the government to cover up financial losses, manufacturing and processing costs.

As the main financial backer, Greensill went bust earlier in March, The government seems concerned about the company’s future and officials have stated that they have not yet responded to MR Gupta’s letter as the government is closely monitoring the current work-structure of the company.

MR Gupta has recently said that he foresees the support could be “structured in such a way that works to ensure value for money appropriate protection to the taxpayers.”

A government official has stated that the plea will likely be turned down as the company’s future does not seem transparent since Greensill went bust.

The Tokyo 2020 organizing committee recently stated that International spectators will not be allowed in the country for the Olympics and Paralympic games as every country have taken different steps to encounter the disease, Thus, some countries are recovering at less speeds then others. The situation is still very challenging and also, international flights also play a huge role as some countries have still not allowed international travel and kept it domestic until a number of its population has been vaccinated.

Like other countries, Japan’s cases have also fallen to a more reasonable level, But the risk is still there as Japanese are receiving the vaccine as a much slower pace as compared to U.K.

A vast number of Japanese residents are against the idea of resuming the Olympics due to the risk of the virus spreading between the spectators after the Government had announced the dates of Olympics. A Poll by National Broadcaster NHK revealed that 77% of Japanese think that the games should be further postponed until the virus is fully under control and the population has been vaccinated as perusing with the idea can lead to more spread of the virus.

An expected number of 11,000 athletes from around 200 countries will attend the Olympics this year.

It Is also to be said that this year’s Olympics will be different from all others as a huge number of restrictions have been added by the Government to prevent any infections. The huge opening and closing ceremonies will be cut-short, Athletes will not be allowed to give their teammates high-fives or hugs, Any sort of physical interaction will not be allowed between the participants. The athletes will be regularly tested and their movements will be severely restricted.

 

Rory McIlroy suffers nightmarish loss as he hits ball into swimming pool

Rory McIlroy is a professional golfer from Northern Ireland, He is a member of both the PGA and the European Tours. Rory also occupied the number 1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking on the 4th of March 2012. McIlroy holds the win of 4 major championships which are the 2011 U.S Open, 2012 PGA Championship, 2014 Open Championship, and 2014 PGA Championship. He also holds 28 winnings worldwide and has known to bring home an estimate of $50 million in career earnings.

However, In the WGC Match-play on Wednesday where McIlroy faced Ian Poulter, McIlroy’s game seemed to plummet and nothing seemed to bring together his form other than his drive on the fifth hole. When McIlroy strikes the ball, He noticed that the ball was adequately flying to the left, which later ended up in someone else’s swimming pool in a house nearby.

This incident made McIlroy fall behind as 6-5 to Poulter.
McIlroy has had struggles with his swings, for which he hired the renowned golfing coach Pete Cowen to his team. McIlroy has not seemed to have won a single PGA tour championship since the WGC-HSBC Champions in 2019. Since then, His ranking has dropped down to No.11 from the No.1 position he used to hold in the Official Golf Rankings.

Ian Poulter spoke to the media where he said “Obviously, Pete’s going to be working exclusively with Rory on his game, and I think there’s a couple of areas of his game which I’m sure he wants to kind of firm up a little bit, and obviously he missed a couple of tee shots left. From that point, he was trying to hit, a kind of, a bit of a hold-up cut. But it’s Rory, it doesn’t take a lot for Rory to spark up pretty quickly and I wasn’t surprised with anything, I just felt that I had done a pretty decent job of putting him under pressure. I made it difficult for him.”

McIlroy will now face American Lanto Griffin and Australian Cameron Smith who finished second in last year’s Masters.

Norway players protest Qatar World Cup ahead of qualifier against Gibraltar

With the FIFA 2022 World Cup nearing up. Fans all across the world are seen extremely hyped for the big game. Specifically, The audience of Qatar was seen to be pretty excited about the World Cup being held in Qatar this time around as this would be the first-ever Middle-Eastern country to host the FIFA World Cup. But news from around the globe has told us otherwise.

After their game against the Gibraltar team, in which, Norway scored 3 goals whereas Gibraltar didn’t manage to score any. This is the team’s first qualification for the World cup since early 1998. Norway players were seen wearing T-shirts on which there was written “Human rights On and Off the pitch”.

Norway’s players were seen protesting against the World Cup 2022 being held in Qatar after a Guardian report last month revealed that the migrant workers currently involved in the construction of the Qatar football stadium were not looked after correctly, The report revealed that above 6,500 migrant workers have lost their lives during the construction since early 2010 when Qatar was given the right to host the FIFA World Cup 2022. The head coach of Norway, Stale Solbakken said “It’s about putting pressure on FIFA to be even more direct, even firmer with the authorities in Qatar, to impose stricter requirements.”, Before the game against Gibraltar.

“The mortality rate among these communities is within the expected range for the size and demographics of the population,” Said Qatar’s government, Also, The Chief Executive of Qatar’s 2022 FIFA world cup organizing committee Nasser Al Khater said that Qatar has been treated quite unfairly ahead of the tournament and the country was judged very early-on by the Court of Perception.

After the protests, A Spokesman for Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy told reporters that they are transparent about the health and safety of workers on projects directly related to the Qatar World Cup 2022. The construction of the stadium began in 2014, Where the number of work-related deaths recorded was only 3, Whereas the rest of the 36 mortalities were not work-related.

Boycotting the Match could also be a lay-down for the Norwegian team as this the first time that the team has qualified for the World Cup 2022 since 1998, Boycotting the match could lead the team to not participate in the World Cup and their chance to lose the trophy.

After the protest, FIFA told the News that “It would not take any sort of Disciplinary action as they believe in the Freedom of Speech  and in the Power of Football as a force for Good.”

 

Netherlands hope to highlight Qatar migrant workers’ situation

After the protests of the Norwegian and German teams for boycotting the Qatar World Cup 2022. Netherland has highlighted the cause for improving the Human Rights in Qatar for the Migrant Workers. Recent news show that almost 6,500 migrant workers have lost their lives in the construction of the Qatar Stadium for the World Cup for 2022.

Qatar was awarded the right to hold the 2022 FIFA World Cup back in 2010 where-as the construction of the Stadium began in 2014, since then reportedly 6,500 workers have lost their lives due to poor arrangements for migrant workers. Netherland’s head coach Frank De Boer told the news during a press conference on the eve of team’s opening Group Match against Turkey in Istanbul, Frank said “A lot of attention is now focused on whether we should go there if we qualify.” He also referred to the Dutch Football association’s ruling on boycotting the World cup due to the situation of the migrant workers, He said “It is right to ask that question … Everyone knows that what is happening there is not good.”

Government officials of Qatar stated that “The mortality rate among these communities is within the expected range for the size and demographics of the Population. Though every life lost is a tragedy.” Before the Netherlands ’ coach highlighting the issue, Belgium Manager Roberto Martinez spoke to the news as he said “I think it is the time to face that situation and I think boycotting the World Cup wouldn’t be the solution, It would be a big mistake.” As teams have already trained and built up their enthusiasm magnificently, Boycotting the World Cup would not only highly delay the match but all the training and spirit of the players would be lost.

After being pressurized by Human Rights groups for years and years, The Qatari government has to take a huge step in letting go of the “Kafala” system in the country, Kafala system is basically a Sponsorship system where the Employee must take permission from his Employer, Who sponsored the worker’s visa, to change their jobs or to leave the country be it a final exit or just a vacation. The Kafala system also spoiled some of the Qatari nationals on solely living on the monthly fees they’d obtain from their employees. If the employee ever failed to pay their Kafeel (Sponsor). He would simply cancel the visa online or mark the visa as a Huroob ( Run-Away Employee ), After which the employee had to face jail-time or had to pay a hefty amount of fine to the government and the sponsor in order to get his papers cleared.

The Qatari government also increased the minimum monthly income to 1,000 RIYALS or $275 dollars for all the workers, Including the Qatar nationals.

A Spokesman for Qatar’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy told reporters that they are transparent about the health and safety of workers on projects directly related to the Qatar World Cup 2022. The construction of the stadium began in 2014, Where the number of work-related deaths recorded were only 3, Whereas the rest of the 36 mortalities were not work-related.

The Qatari Government also said that the health and safety reforms had helped to steadily reduce worker mortality over the last decade.

The Netherlands ’ team captain, Georginio Wijnaldum told the news that the players have discussed the issue, also said that “It’s a big topic, but we all believe we should go there if we qualify. Then we can have a greater impact on change.”
